@theoutrider well okay that's not wholly true you'll be able to fit a fair bit on a 1gb sd card and maybe a couple small programs but... yeah. even a 4gb sd card is like "wow that's not a lot of room" these days.

it's weird to think about but a 1gb storage device is like being handed a 3.5" floppy disk and being asked to copy DOOM 2016 onto it.

Also dang hunting around for a different SD card reader netted me a 4gb and a 16gb class 4 micro sdhc cards. my 8gb is class 10, which I assume means it's the fastest one I own.

the 1 and 2gb microsds tho don't have a class rating. so... probably slow as heck.

Nonetheless, more micro sds = more good, right?

To be fair this crappy little reader came free with one of the old M3 cards for my ds lite, so...

It is pretty crappy tbh. Oh well. I'll just grab a new one at some point in the near future.

Nope. It's the actual reader itself that's fucked. No SD card is recognised in it at all. Holy crap.

...welp used the sd card formatter tool to try and wipe this sd card...

and it disconnected somehow halfway through, so the format failed. and now windows doesn't recognise the SD card at all so if it's plugged into the reader, it doesn't detect it at all.

meaning I can't format it hahahaUHFSHasjfAHSFAS

On the upside I now have a 1gb and 2gb microsd card (older ones tho, so they're probably p. slow and very crap quality) that I can use for anything I like now.

...heck if this r4i 3ds clone is totally buggered I can at least use the 8gb SDHC card in it for data storage too. it's a pretty good one at least.

Welp, tossing the crapped out old cards. keeping the R4i just in case there's a way to make it work again (doubt it). Might try an older firmware or something.

As for the R4 Rev, (also def a clone) it also doesn't read the card and I think it might also have had a spring catch because the sd card sits... very low in its slot... The DS lite just doesn't read the M3 or R4 as existing, and the R4i 3ds's firmware on the sd card is apparently fucked I guess. Shame. Ah well.

Not sure what caused this because the R4i was definitely working, I was playing Cooking Mama 3 on my DS lite. Then suddenly just... whomp. White screen forever. :<

The R4i 3DS just white screens on booting up so... I have no idea what's up with THAT one. yow.

the otyher one I have is actually an R4 Revolution for DS. not another R4i 3ds, forgot I sold that one (mercifully it worked).
