@ottumon oh heck that might be why it's failing then. it's possible the fabric is like... dipping, and the optical sensor gets confused by the sudden change in light reflection, so ... it buggers up. (also could be a hair trapped in the sensor)

@ottumon I've actually found that the best mousepads are ....largely uniform. there's that... what's it called... it's ... kinda stretchy, rubbery backed, but with a fabric cover on thte top... that stuff is great. usually makes great mousepads, providing they're plain. designs tend to... mess things up a bit.
