@jk ah wow that's really sleek and nice an-... ...where's the mouse and keyboard...
WHERE'S THE MOUSE AND KEYBOARD?! WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM DELL
@georgespolitzer honestly I think all "ice breaker" events should be about destroying ICE and related things instead of chatting nd revealing personal details about yourself.
after all, nothing brings people together like destroying fascism.
@g1comics Oh heck yes Rebelstar and Chaos: Duel of Wizards were my jam too. I used to play Rebelstar a lot with my little brother. I really liked Lords of Chaos too but the demo I had was really, REALLY hard so I never completed it lol.
re: my favourite pokemon gen 1 glitch
@sobsz @monorail (safer, less hilariously awesome method, https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mew_glitch )
re: my favourite pokemon gen 1 glitch
@Nine @monorail but why do a simple and safe glitch when you can literally program a virus into the video game that adds mew under the truck sorry just had to plug this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2x3pIvVnP4
@socks Game Brock-en wide open
re: my favourite pokemon gen 1 glitch
@monorail one thing that DOES irritate me about gen1 pokemon is the fact that I had a legit pokemon blue cart and a GB classic and long, LONG after I gave both to my little brother because I was A) too bummed out from my cousin destroying my save out of jealousy to play pokemon ever again, and B) didn't wanna spend money on batteries for it, I found out you could catch Mew in Gen 1 through a fairly simple, and safe, glitch.
my favourite pokemon gen 1 glitch
the best pokemon gen 1 glitch is brock through walls, entirely because it's called "brock through walls"
you know the guy who prevents you from leaving pewter city until you fight brock and leads you right to the gym door? well, he has two different paths he can take depending on whether you're talking to him from the west or south
what happens if you talk to him from the east? it doesn't matter, he has a wall to his north and he stops you if you try to pass you on the south so you can't possibly get to the east.
anyway here's how to talk to him from the east:
- pause your game, put your cursor on "save", unpause
- walk in front of the guy and buffer a pause
- you'll notice that, while the game is paused, you can't move your cursor. good thing it's already on "save". save your game
- reset
- walk to the east
tada
now, when you talk to him from the east, he looks up which path he should take you on depending on your coordinates. but there's no path for talking to him from the east, so he ends up reading garbage data
and if you set up some memory in just the right way (for example, i thiiiink you have to have a move with 16 pp remaining in your lead pokemon's 3rd attack slot), the game gets put into a state where it thinks you're being led by an NPC but you actually have control. and while the game thinks you're being led by an NPC, it doesn't check collision while you move around the overworld
brock through walls
@jk fuck yes you can dual weirld dymos now
@jk "yo we thought you might not like this product so we sent you TWO of it just so you can be ABSOLUTELY SURE you don't want it."
still not enjoying the new computer mouse. it feels wrong. i decided to see if i could fix my old cheap mouse instead, since it's better, and return the new one
but!!! lo and behold. can you believe it. amazon sent me a duplicate package to the package i got on sunday. so now i have TWO of the new mouse, which i don't like. i checked my account and i didn't double-purchase it! seems to be a genuine mistake
so anyway. does anyone want a brand new computer mouse. or two
@g1comics It's super weird too. there was like... a 99% complete version of the ACTUAL Star Raiders 2 that is far closer in design and aesthetic and gameplay to Star Raiders 1, that was cancelled in favour of retooling the Last Starfighter tie-in game instead at the last moment. which is SO weird! The "real" version was released recently though and... dang it looks pretty great actually. Sparse, graphically, but... actually good, heck.
@g1comics Nope! I found out what it was finally after doing a lot of searching. Like despite all my attempts before I could NOT find ANYTHING on it, but randomly I foudn it last night lol. It's called Star Raiders 2, and that game is ACTUALLY originally a "The Last Starfighter" license game, but retooled to be a sequel to Star Raiders for some reason, hence why it's so different to its predecessor and has elements from the first game seemingly shoehorned in.
I think there WAS some kinda tactical screen thing for plotting routes, or travelling around, rather than solely in your cockpit view, that was purely for the combat segments and planetary flying stuff. I think I only played a little of it, and lost the tape years and years ago. Mostly I just flew into suns a lot because I just could not work out what to do in it.
This melting effect was pretty visual too. like, your actual cockpit would start to change colours, going more orange and then yellow and whatnot, and then right as your ship was destroyed, the graphics would make it look like your ship was actually melting, before you got a gameover screen.
it was NOT, i might add, Elite. For a start, it had colour graphics and such rather than wireframes.
yeah i'm moving over to chitter.xyz now. Soooo go there! I'm there now.
