Replacing the announcer from games like unreal tournament and quake with a calm voice that tells me things like "you're valid!' and "you're living your best life, honey"

A crunchy overview of how the Nintendo Switch authenticates online functionality, detailing all the anti-piracy safeguards in place: reddit.com/r/SwitchHacks/comme

Basically, unique encrypted data is attached to each console, game card, and downloaded game in such a way that Nintendo can verify which console and which account is talking to their servers and what data it has. Consequently, it can ban any console or account that sends a game certificate it shouldn't have. It's a good read.

Back in my middle school it was installed on pretty much all the RM Nimbus 386s, and after school if you were still there you could dink about on them . Cartooners became a MASSIVELY popular program amongst my school then. Like, I copied it off them when I was older (both it and its expansion, on a single floppy disk) and there were nearly a hundred damn cartoons people had made with it! It was WILD!

so hey Cartooners fun little edutainment title (not sure how it was educational but there you go) where you make cartoons by using stock assets provided with the game. You place down actors (which are sprites with various animations you can play and move in various directions or have face left or right if they have those sprites, plus you can freeze them at any frame in their animations if you like), plus some musics, plus backgrounds you can set. It was kinda neat.

Okay. You know what? I'm instituting a new thing. You can participate if you want to but there's no shame if you don't.

I'm gonna call it #BeMyNeighborWeek in honor of the 50th anniversary of "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood". (I'm four months late, shh.)

Until 12:01 AM on June 24, I'm going to try to be like Mr. Rogers. No sick burns, no scoring points, no annoyed brush-offs. I will do my best to be patient and kind and understanding.

You can be my neighbor if you'd like.
