don't mind me just installing and loading up a variety of games with achievements during the steam sale for 30 minutes and hten uninstalling them just to get points because it seems like any leftover points you couldn't claim because of that fucking "maximum" bullshit that forces you to buy tons of games to up it to any reasonable level so you can claim the points you've earned you get to KEEP at the very end and the pitstop opens up fully...
so uh...
yeaaah. gettin' all the points I can :3
tom scott being cool, transmisia, longish
In 2013, Tom Scott made a video about english's singular "they" that referenced nonbinary people who use it because neither "he" or "she" fit them. I just found a... blog post? A sort of blog post thing he wrote about it, which makes a minor correction about something that slipped through the editing process. Whatever. What's much more interesting to me is the rest of the post.
When the video was posted, it was uncontroversial. It gained relatively few dislikes, and he mentions that most of those were from speakers of languages with grammatical gender who felt their language had been insulted. But in around 2016, it started to gather a lot more dislikes. I'm sure those of you here on fedi can imagine why. The reference to nonbinary people went from being "FYI, these people exist" to "I'm taking a side in a political issue" which, I suppose he is, but that was never his point.
But I really like this quote that he uses to finish the post:
It seems that, over the last few years, non-binary and trans folks have reached stage three on the Williams Scale: ‘then they fight you’. Hopefully, it won't take long to reach stage four: ‘then you win’.
it will forever be a mystery to me why ppl play games they dont like

Video Games
I imagine it probably won't have as powerful a story as Bastion or Transistor however (I've not yet played Pyre, though I will probably try that out too at some point in the near future), but I'm still loving it.
welp, Hades by Supergiant Games is ...pretty friggin amazing not gonna lie. It's like Bastion, only a lot faster paced, and with a great blend of roguelike and dungeon crawler (you get to choose what reward you'll get for clearing the next room, and it'll tell you if it's a "normal" difficulty room or an "elite" room where the challenge is higher), plus it's got amazing narration and voice acting, and great art.
I've been having a whale of a time with it :D
The sun finally came out for like 15 minutes today so I finally got a photo of the Heckbird 🦜
