on the upside it's literally just the graphics driver that needs updating. the HD Audio, USB-C and PhysX stuff doesn't need updating at all

(yes i know it will remind me when updates are available but no i still will not use it. i will own my fuckups by shaming myself into not forgetting to check for driver updates manually and then never actually remember to check for driver updates and then go OH GOD WHY DIDN'T I REMEMBER the next time invariably forget to update them again)

if i ever make a videogame i'm going to make it so the dialogue system can parse any form of text or unicode so I can have a character actually speak in emoji or shift-JIS emoticons and whatnot, and maybe also include text effects, but JUST for them, and have NOBODY bat an eyelid to it except ONE character (possibly the player) able to respond with "...h..how did you do that with your mouth?"
