like everyone was like "OH SHIT THIS IS A GREAT FUCKIN' TUNE I WANNA HEAR MORE OF THIS SWEET FUCKIN' TRANCE/TECHNO TRACK" and nope it's fuckin' crunchy guitars and screaming and anger and a sense of loss of self in a capitalist hellscape and struggling with gender identity and sexuality in a world that Does Not Want You To Exist, and that just... threw a lot of people, at the time.
Hell it threw ME out for a loop too. I rapidly grew to love it though, even though at the time I didn't know why.
i think honestly some of the blame for babylon zoo's "boy with the x-ray eyes" not doing so great as an album rests squarely on Levi jeans' corporation's shoulders, or more specifically whoever made the choice to alter and edit Spaceman to just be the sped up intro, rather than the actual song.
The song's a fuckin' banger, the entire album is amazing, doubly so now I'm older and ... well... also that I've Awakened My Gender as it were. But I think it got dismissed at the time due to Levis.
they just waited until everyone stopped paying attention, and did it anyway

ofc though, if that doesnt sound up your alley, do not forget that the very similar foss game engine Godot exists https://godotengine.org/
yoyo games has announced changes in how the gamemaker studio 2 trial works
specifically, the 30 day time limit is gone. you can use it as long as you want, open and save as many projects as you want etc etc.
the only catch is you cant export anything until you pay up for a platform export module
which, imho, is very fair. being able to learn and fuck about with gms2 freely and only pay when you want to pay is great
