I switched my Game Boy Color game over to 8x16 sprites instead of 8x8, so I can now go a little crazier with the number of on-screen entities I can have at once. #gbdev#gamedev
The real downside to 8x16 sprites is that for things that are 8 pixels tall you end up wasting tiles for the required blank space above/below them, but almost everything in this game is 16x16 so it's acceptable.
