Coupon culture and stealing (-)

If you think about it. Isn't coupon culture glorifying stealing?

Of course, uncaught stealing.

But getting something for cheaper is seen as something good. Something rewardable.

So if you exploit people and get it for less than they say, that's great. You're a hero.

Who cares if they need that money to survive, you got something for the best price.

And what better than the ultimate 100% off coupon? (aka just getting it free/stealing)

@maxine no

Cupons are issued largely by companies and the companies have whole departments to calculate their gain and loss

Extreme couponing is accounted for in their calculations
If it is not then I have no pitty for corporations

Any individual or small ethical business should be leery of such things, but I don't see that as rising to a level worthy of accusing people of stealing

Cupons are self inflicted

@electroCutie @maxine In fact I've seen some companies (specifically pizza ones) put out deals so frequently that I'm pretty sure they're deliberately trying to exploit psychological effects as much as they can, and it's pretty clear they know exactly what they're doing.

@NovaSquirrel @maxine yes! Some stores in the US have perpetual sales
Things "40% off" which have never been full price

Extra Creditz did an episode on this
Called the jcpenny effect (in the episode not writ large)
