Once upon a time my main music player was my Nintendo DS and Moonshell, with a 1GB (and then later 2GB) SD card, so to store a lot of different music I ended up mostly listening to midis and tracker stuff, so in many cases I'm way more familiar with midi versions of songs than the regular thing.
@jeffalyanak Every now and then I hear a song and recognize it as a song I previously heard an NSF cover of in Famicompo. Or sometimes I'll go look up the original of a song I only managed to find through the cover because there's a lot of anime music in there I'd have never found otherwise.
Also I'll admit that 99% of my midis are just random game songs from https://vgmusic.com/
@NovaSquirrel I like how VGMusic is still around.
@NovaSquirrel and that they're still making MIDIs https://vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/switch/
@NovaSquirrel I never got into midi music, but I spent my youth listening almost exclusively to module music and so there were a lot of songs where I didn't know the original because I had only ever heard an Amiga cover. :p
