Well, I broke the power jack on my laptop. 😫💻🚫⚡️
As usual I did some real dirty stuff trying to see if I could hack it back into working order but I think I should probably find a pro to replace the jack.
Returning to desktop life...

After sleeping on it, I took another look at the power jack. I think desoldering it is beyond my means, but the internal connector seems fine; the problem is that the power pin snapped off. Maybe I can just connect it back up with a wire?

This concludes episode 4 of Brad's Stupid Laptop Repair.

BTW it broke 'cause I knocked it off the table and it landed directly on the protruding power plug. Didn't even notice at first cause the laptop was otherwise fine and running on battery. 😛 Eventually it drained though...

If you're wondering why I might be talking about Windows 10 suddenly...

6 months after my last laptop kludge/repair, the power jack started deteriorating a bit more. Removed some of the hot glue keeping it in place to get some access, but it's basically hanging by a thread now.

So... at this point the only sensible thing to do is replace the power jack entirely. I think I'll do that later (not sure what I'll use) but this was kind of a straw/camel situation and I'm moving on.

The Eurocom M3 (Clevo W230ST) sure had a good run though. RIP my credit card.

@rainwarrior "RIP my credit card" makes me imagine your credit card is like a key in a video game, where using it causes it to magically vanish
