Doodled these islands in Tilemap Town because I felt like making islands of some sort. I've been remembering how much I like the tropical aesthetic recently and maybe when I put in support for user-made tilesets I'll have to give it a more proper go with palm trees and such.

This year might be the year I finally do not renew my ChicagoVPS plan. I haven't renewed it yet and it's not due until I think March or something so perhaps at some point I will migrate to something else.

My server's being oddly laggy recently and it's making me really appreciate that Tilemap Town will just keep chugging along locally without caring how slow the server is to respond, though having commands take ages to happen isn't too nice.

food

I got a Papa Johns gift card so now to wait until they inevitably do a 50% off deal again

Gonna try and push my sleep schedule back. 4:30 AM isn't great but it's sure better than 6 AM

For my microgame engine thing, I guess I'll make a few serious microgames, develop enough stuff to allow actually playing WarioWare with whatever microgames you supply, and then release that and see if anyone wants to mess with it

I think I managed to find a positive side to not getting out of the house much!

eye contact, art

I practiced vector art a little bit and drew an Isabelle. I don't think it's very good but I've gotta make myself keep doing it if I want to get better at it.

I probably should try just drawing on paper though, since those skills would actually transfer to drawing with a tablet if I ever got one, or a touch screen.

The cat needs to stop going up to, licking and biting every single plastic bag she can find in the whole world

I started on an experimental tool to easily (hopefully) make WarioWare-style microgames for NES, by creating a map, placing down any number of actors on the map, and defining the behavior of each actor using a sequence of premade behavior primitives (or just assembly).

No idea if I'll go anywhere serious with it but with the right scope it *seems* pretty doable. Just I don't know if it'll be genuinely helpful to have the script thing if the assembly it produces is mostly subroutine calls.

Negativity about weather

It's hard not to feel cooped up and stuck in my room when it's 12°F and I don't have friends to visit or places I'm required to go to

I told my girlfriend that she's so short that if she were an integer she could only count up to 65535

I'm still unsure if I would ever actually want to write a SNES game that wasn't a port. On one hand I have a strong love for the console and it would be amazing, and on the other hand things would be made much more complex and difficult without much of a benefit versus making a PC game. In contrast, NES's limitations make it an interesting platform.

Cat needs to learn that 3 AM is a bad time to start meowing for my attention

There's someone I chat with who roleplays Capcom's Felicia and she acts proud of her involvement in Darkstalkers and we have a situation where I'm like "oh hey I know you from Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo"

I need to get in the habit of just making some smaller short-term stuff so I can have a place to put creative energy.

Steven Universe season finale, Minecraft joke

obviously the reason White Diamond was unable to defeat Obsidian was she did not first construct a diamond pickaxe. I'm imagining her just pausing the fight to go punch some trees for the sticks, haha.

I wonder how tiny (and maybe consequently how fast?) a 6502 could be if made with modern chip processes and design

lost friends (~)

I actually heard back from the person who recently unadded me and cut me off and they told me it wasn't my fault and just that because of undisclosed abrupt life changes they had to leave all the people they used to roleplay with.

I suppose I can live with that, it's much better than anything my own head could've given me as a possible reason.

money

Actually went and organized all the transactions I did between today and the January 1st, 2018 because I was curious about how much I actually do spend on groceries on average based on actual data.

And the answer is $24.53/week which sounds about right. Also only ate out 16 times and it was almost exclusively Wendy's. When I manage to get a job I'm gonna stop being so stingy and just enjoy things more I suppose.
