fuck interfaces, stream the 0s and 1s directly into my brain, just fuck me up

thinking of changing my display pic but im kinda attached to this one now,

that worked for now... feels like im still gonna switch terminal eventually tho. rxvt starting to feel long in the tooth

Show thread

and now, over 5 years since i started using urxvt, i finally am learning what the rxvt-unicode-patched package in the aur is for,

Show thread

trying to make fonts work nicely in urxvt is the worst shit. bane of my fuckin life

switching to another terminal emulator feels like cheating but honestly im thinkin about it

im really about to generate a monospace variant of symbola just so i can keep using the heart glyph in my terminal prompt,

unfortunately it also broke the shitty hack i was using to force discord notifications to replace one another,

for now i've just turned it off, i'll just have to hope a server i have notifications on for doesnt get wild and fill the right hand side of my screen with popups again

Show thread

huh, apparently awesome wm 4.3 dropped without me realising, which means i can finally use beautiful.notification_icon_size instead of having to do, this,

@trinsec i mean im for it but after seeing someone drop a 2 page wall of text in a single toot im kinda surprised there's not some "auto-cw extremely long posts" mechanism

fuck this means i gotta stop procrastinating and finally get round to rearranging my dotfile repo so i can actually share it across machines again, huh

im now learning that awesomewm requires lgi anyway, and that lgi doesn't actually have gnome as a dependency, so there was never any need for me to write my own socket code

at least i know how to do it now i guess

Show thread

i actually only did part of it, i need to make this work asynchronously cos if i just shove it in my awesomewm config as it is im like 99% sure it'll lock the whole thing up,
