stripping the iron-on backing off patches suuuucks

if any patch creators are readin this, please consider making the iron-on backing optional - some people prefer to stitch patches on and the backing is absolutely not needle or sewing machine friendly

-?

making trips outside where i live freaks me out a bit but at least this is on such short notice that i didnt spend the last several weeks worrying about it i guess

trains are too damn expensive so i booked a coach trip to visit my gf for her birthday but i've not been on a coach since 2012 so i'm now very nervous,

at last count i had like 40+ patches but im probably closer to 50 at this point,

despite this, i still only have 1 patch on any of my clothing rn, and it's the sailor moon back patch on my denim jacket

hmmmm... i'd been tellin myself i'd put more patches on this once i'd adjusted the sleeves but...... idk which ones to put on it

got my denim jacket finished! had some weird issues with thread tension but it seems to have been down to the type of thread i'd used on the bobbin, just switched it for some cheap black thread and it worked totally fine, looks the damn same from the outside anyways

if ssbu gives cloud an alt outfit that's just his ps1 overworld model i will buy a switch just to play it

huh. looks like i pressed so hard when i was chalking my jacket that i gave myself a bruise,

bluhhh i was gonna enter procjam but i cant think of anything to make

probably doesn't help that the last game i made, and also the game i'm working on, rely heavily on procedural generation,

uuuoooooooggghhh im still like. hyperfocused on this sewing. but i cant continue cos it's so late

hell

the arms are back on my jacket again! but i can't do the topstitching yet cos its midnight and the sewing machine is loud

the general advice on shoulder alterations is that it's too complex and should be avoided in favour of buying a garment that fits in the shoulder and altering the chest instead

which is entirely useless to someone like me with small shoulders and a big chest,

"freya can't u just look up pics of denim jackets" haha nah drop shoulder is the hot new clothing meme atm so image searches are totally swamped with jackets that fit wrong on purpose

not to mention i have, considerably more mass in the chest area, than most of these models,

probably the worst thing is that, i just don't have any kind of reference on how a denim jacket should fit around the shoulder? all the tutorials on altering jackets are for suit jackets and while some of the same stuff applies, the general look and fit are different

i was thinkin of giving the military jacket i've been slowly patching up the same treatment but i think i'm gonna take a break for a few weeks before i attempt such a major alteration again, this shit is stressful,

i was sewing all afternoon and only managed to get one sleeve attached properly, i must've unpicked and re-stitched sections of it at least 10 times

hopefully the other side won't be so bad now that i've got a reference, but i can't start sewing yet cos my housemates are watching a movie in the only room in the house that has a table i can set up on

Show thread

so yea turns out altering the shoulders on a denim jacket is really fucking hard

needles

i used to be fucking terrified of needles and now one of my hobbies puts me in constant danger of sticking myself with em

funny how shit works out,
