This sort of creature, which I have dubbed a Rook, is one of many larger creatures that I've encountered. They make their homes in dark corners, where humans visit but rarely stay, eating the energy left behind by other, smaller liminal creatures. This is not entirely dissimilar to the behavior of scavenger animals in the waking world.

Rooks fear witches, for whatever reason. Perhaps it is because they do not want to be seen?

I have seen a wounded Rook before. As they tend to be very timid and run at the slightest conflict, it makes sense that they would not be at the top of the astral "food chain." However, active predators are few and far between here— so what, exactly, was willing to hunt it down?
