And that sort of thing is why I feel much more comfortable with Linux, even with the minor inconveniences. They're certainly no worse than the minor inconveniences of Windows, who should be well funded enough to take care of them easily.
Might as well plug Gaming On Linux while I'm at it, they're a great resource for keeping on top of the scene.

Honestly, thanks to the development work that's been happening thanks to Valve's Steam Play and Proton, Wine has been improving in leaps and bounds these days. There are a huge number of games that work just fine now.
The landscape is changing rather quickly.
