Finally got around to cracking into Snyder & Capullo’s Batman: Court Of Owls run. I’m actually quite liking it so far— great art— but they keep repeating this “nursery rhyme” that’s just absolute dogshit to actually read aloud
The meter is all over the place, and for it to work, you need to place emphasis on all the wrong syllables. For a nursery rhyme— a work of poetry primarily transmitted orally— it’s really difficult to build up that rhythm crucial to establishing it in your memory. This is a minor thing, but it REALLY bugs me
@irisjaycomics I was like "aw, c'mon, it can't be that bad" and then I read it and no yeah this is the word equivalent of the car in front of you braking at a green light
