TL:DR - General whining

First post-
Background: Raised Mormon (an ultra-conservative flavor), big family. I'm gay, so that didn't work. Tried for 35 years to show that I'm a decent, successful, productive human - being gay invalidated everything else. Finally got sick of it and wrote them out of my life, about 10 years ago.

Once a year or so, one of them will drop me a text or e-mail, to remind me that if I just change my ways and look at things from their side, I can rejoin my family. Despite spending time with them being like death by a thousand paper cuts, I miss it. Not enough to go back, but yeah. Which sucks, and sucks more during times like now.

I've wrapped my head around the idea that this is their problem, and I can't fix it. But it's also my problem to deal with. So I do. But it still makes me angry and sad.
I'm the one with the parrot.

@ScottSoCal

I'm sorry, Scott. That is just shitty and rotten on so many levels. I wish I had a cure for the kind of brain worm infection that convinces people it's more important to use human connections as leverage to coerce people with than to actually, you know, love them...

If I ever come up with one, I'll send you the first batch.

@ScottSoCal I hear you. It must be awful. They'll be missing you too, I hope you let them know that they are welcome back if they change their ways ;)
