I'm spending a lot of time on Mastodon and Post, trying to build one or both toward having the kind of interactive experience I had on Twitter. So far I have to say both just feel lonely. I'm following & being followed by people I knew on Twitter but almost never see their posts. When I comment or boost I rarely get an acknowledgement. The notifications system is being weird; constantly notifies me of some # of new notifications but when I go look, nothing new is there

On the app on my phone I have to manually refresh, for whatever reason.
On an Android phone, running the latest, I swipe down, and it refreshes. Apple phones are a mystery to me, so I don't know what you'd do there.
On the web interface, everything just works.
@ScottSoCal Yes, refreshing on both laptop and phone has helped with getting new posts to read but the wonky thing with notifications numbers indicating new ones when there are none hasn't gone away on either

One thing I've noticed about the web page is that notifications may keep showing unless I click the checkmark. No pattern to when or why, and it doesn't work that way on the app.
