Hey Mastodon! I need your help.

This is my favorite teapot. As you can see there is a problem with the handle. The straw ring on the right is frayed and near breaking. Where do I get a new one and how do I go about replacing it?

Please boost so I can find a solution!

You can buy shaved wicker (which I'm pretty sure is what the wrap is) and apply it yourself. You do have to soak it, so it's flexible, and then dry it in place, so it keeps shape, and the wrap has to include a knot. That one you can probably figure out by closely inspecting the one that isn't loose.

@ScottSoCal @silkenpaw the knot you want is called a β€œturk’s head.” you can find out how to tie them with yer basic web search. they’re a teensy bit fiddly to get right at first but not impossible.

tie the wicker as tight as you possibly can and don’t trim the end(s) off until it dries.

Also: it might not be a bad idea to use a small clamp or something to hold that right side closed while the wicker is drying, so it puts stress on the knot, even after it's dried.
