I just stumbled upon this definition of Left Wing at the Urban Dictionary. It is quite accurate.

The first time I went to London was during Bush the Lesser's war, and I had to join the protest march. What shocked my little Utah-raised heart was sweet old grandmas and grandpas holding signs for the Socialist party. I couldn't imagine. Grannies are all Republican.
@ScottSoCal I'm sure that Socialist grannies are a tiny percentage of grannies overall--especially in Utah.
@ScottSoCal There are definitely socialists and other leftists but the spirit of this definition is correct considering how small the left is in the US.
