3. Isolation from society
4. Veneration of an individual.
CULT CATEGORIES: Doomsday, Political, Religious, & Sex. An additional group bordering on cult territory is LGATs (Large Group Awareness Trainings), which typically fall under "human potential" or "self-awareness," such as the infamous NXIVM cult. #criticalthinking #cults
I was raised in a cult offshoot of a recognized religion, abandoned that for agnosticism, realized I'm not actually an agnostic, I'm an atheist, but still had a very live-and-let-live attitude toward other people and their religion. With the continuing weaponization and radicalization of religion, I've lost all patience with religion and all other forms of magical thinking (astrology, numerology, spirituality, ghost hunters, UFO investigators, etc.)
Give me cold, harsh reality.
