One of my co-workers is a crow. He shows up a couple of times a week, to knock on my office window and scream at me. I'm pretty sure he's an efficiency director.
Today I decided to appease my co-worker and leave mixed nuts on the windowsill. He showed up, screamed until the other efficiency director came, both ate the nuts, then paraded back and forth in front of my window, berating me for wasting time leaving nuts when I should have been working. Fine, be that way.
But I'll do it again.

I love/hate this story.
I like the idea of getting of crows become my friends by leaving them nuts. But I think of the downsides. They scream at you!
Or, let's say you get picked up for questioning by the cops.
The cop asks you, "You're hanging out with all these crows..."

@spocko

Someone pointed out that 3 or more crows is called a murder of crows. Since I only had 2, it was just attempted murder.

@ScottSoCal I went back looking for a cartoon that set up that same joke, but couldn't find it.
It was more subtle and wouldn't work if someone had already brought up the 'murder of crows" line.
But seriously, I like the idea of crow friends, but I don't like the screaming. We have several in the neighborhood and 2 of them screamed so much at friends trying to picnic in their own backyard, they they had to stop eating outside in the backyard!

@ScottSoCal A gray parrot? Wow! How old is she? Is she a talker? It makes sense you would have one, I read they are the smartest of birds, and of course a smart scifi fan would want to hang out with smart birds, you know the whole flocking together bit...
Thanks for the photo!

@spocko

She came from a parrot rescue, so I don't know her age - she's young, so probably not more than 20. And yes, she talks, and sings, and whistles, and sounds like the microwave and the toaster oven. My favorite is when she whispers
"I love the Scootie, such a sweet Scootie" That one she learned from me and hubs. I'm currently teaching her to whistle Jeepers Creepers.

@ScottSoCal
Thanks. I would think teaching her anything has to be a thoughtful process, like getting a tattoo, you would be hearing it for the years to come!

@spocko

Definitely, but it's not always up to me. She mimics the phone ringing, microwave, etc, because she hears it. And when she first got here, what she repeated to herself was "Scooter! No! Ow! You little asshole!" I noticed she was fascinated by whispering, so that's what I did, and I almost never hear that original phrase anymore, but she whispers to herself a lot.
