This is “my” young male resident Anna’s #Hummingbird. Fortunate to have them here, in the #Seattle area year round.
These little winged wonders flutter their wings at a remarkable 80 times per second! They do NOT flap their wings, they rotate them in a figure 8.

When we bought our house we planted many flowering bushes designed to attract hummingbirds, and installed fountains. It worked, every year we have hummingbirds nesting around our yard. It surprised me how territorial and absolutely fearless they are. I can't count the number of times I've been strafed by a hummingbird.
@ScottSoCal Wow! Sounds like a heavenly place for them. I’ve only seen nest once, on my walk. Yes, I wish they weren’t so territorial. 😬
