I am angry and have a right to be so. Almost 400 anti-LGBTQIA laws have been passed this year. Laws trying their damnedest to hide us, shrink us, kill us, and destroy our identities.
Attacks on the trans community harm everyone and everyone’s rights and freedoms. This isn’t an issue to say will lost votes, if that’s even true. Lives are at stake, Rebecca. Human lives. That’s why Tony used “stochastic terrorism.”
@Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe @rebeccabguinn Additionally, the article I posted mentioned growing support for gay marriage (yay). However that wasn’t always the case, either.

We don’t fight for human rights and dignity because they’re approved all of the time. We do because it’s right. We also can multitask, by the way.
@rebeccabguinn @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe
Rebecca; What I'm interpreting your posts to mean is that we (the left) should not worry about rights for Trans people, because it's a difficult topic. We should stick to more mainstream issues. I think that's why you're getting the pushback you are. I'm not abandoning people. I'm not going to leave them to fight for the basic right to exist. I can't be that person. I won't be.
@ScottSoCal @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe gotta determine how much to push and if the push a will elect Desantis or a mini Desantis on the local level. We lose the elections the the whole battle is lost. Pick your battles and your time.
@rebeccabguinn @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe
I'm not pushing anything, I'm drawing a line I refuse to cross. There's a difference.
@rebeccabguinn @ScottSoCal @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe how much we push or not does not matter. The right wing media will push it no matter what. The main stream media has so far accepted the right wing framing. If our side avoids the subject we legitimize their attacks. So you must address it, humanize those being vilified, and point out the lies being used to dehumanize the victims of the attacks.
@rebeccabguinn @ScottSoCal @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe “moderates” accept what the right is portraying because trans people have been marginalized, vilified, and dehumanized successfully for so long. Using pronouns and talking about trans people as humans deserving acceptance may turn these “moderates” off initially, but it’s necessary to counteract the hateful otherness they have been forced to endure.
@rebeccabguinn @ScottSoCal @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe this fight reminds me of the fight for gay rights. As I remember there was a concerted effort to portray gays as child molesters before 2006. The online left were able to reference a lot of data showing most pedo’s were hetero and then Mark Foley, several other sex scandals, all built up and voilà, Speaker Pelosi. 2008 Dems were still wishy washy.
@rebeccabguinn @ScottSoCal @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe by 2012 all mainstream democrats were for marriage equality and by 2015 Obergefell. But it took normalizing being out, and seeing gay relationships in mass media, overcoming AIDS stigma and all the way back to stonewall.
I want the party of the disenfranchised to fight for the most marginalized. Stand up for the truth that we’re all equal.
@ScottSoCal @rebeccabguinn @TonyStark @Heimdall @curiouscatastrophe
The GOP has to have an "other group" to demonize so they can divide us and continue to install an autocracy. We see this with the attacks on immigrants. On women's rights to choose. Then the whole CRT scam as an excuse to eliminate black history from being taught in schools. Now transgender people are under siege.
If we don't stand together, Rebecca, we all lose. That's the point.
@curiouscatastrophe @Heimdall @rebeccabguinn @ScottSoCal We can….do both. And thanks, Scott.
