But it was also associated with intellectual disability, which I don't have. But it suggests to me that maybe there's another variant that might result in an association minus the ID. I emailed the study's author but he never responded.

That could explain my reaction to habanero salsa. There was a restaurant here, years ago, that made an award-winning salsa, and I loved it. It was too hot for everyone else.
