@actuallyautistic @actuallyautistics I've had insomnia for a long time, but my insomnia progressively required more and more support. My problems were cranked to 11 with my cancer. Nothing worked (medicine, therapy, blah blah blah) until I got a new bed, but I still have periods that are less than optimal or flat out bad. I don't mean one odd bad night. It is more like a week or more.

One thing I've noticed is that my needs appear to change. I'm fine with hugging my squishmallow, then I have to stop or I cannot sleep. I'm fine with white noise, then I have to stop using white noise, or I cannot sleep. I'm fine with my ears free from earplugs, then I have to use earplugs or I can't sleep.

It is maddening mainly due to the trial and error aspect of it.

Is it something that other autistic people experience?
