I was going to suggest that you should put your qualifications prominently in your Mastodon bio, Matt, but I don't think it would make much difference honestly.

Perhaps a pinned post at he top of Matthews profile *might* help, but such responses seem to be from people who fire off responses without even checking a profile bio. Tricky one.

I do understand the impulse to distrust anything given away for free, that's the unfortunate nature of the world we live in. Still, I find it's better to hold the suspicions in check at least until I've had a chance to take the measure of someone's actions. It costs nothing to not fling half baked accusations around.
The attacks center around both - the free, and the charging.
I paid for a series of meetings with Matthew and a few others like me. We "met" each Saturday for what was supposed to be a 1.5 hour (but usually ran longer) series of talking, getting and sharing information, and some random socializing and story--telling. I found it useful. I wouldn't hesitate to pay for another, when scheduling permits.

It’s very distressing indeed and often makes me want to not engage with the community simply because I cannot continue engaging online due to this stuff. People forget that I’m autistic too and get enough shit from the NT world to start with.
