When did my #ActuallyAutistic comrades understand that they were autistic?
@theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic I was diagnosed as a toddler but my parents didn’t believe the psychiatrist so they didn’t tell me for thirty years. At that time I was transitioning and meeting so many autistic people in the queer community and the more I heard about their experiences the more I realized I was experiencing the same things
I swear! My stupid brain! I read your first sentence as meaning that you suffer from a disease I've never heard of before:
toddlerism.
You know, like "I was diagnosed as autistic."
(Yes, I know the "a" makes all the difference, but my brain jumped right over it.)
Now I'm mentally compiling a list of symptoms for the dreaded disease of toddlerism.
