Couldn't help it.
One of the many things I don't miss about my bio-family is their macabre version of funerals.
"Oh, hey, you kids, circle up around the casket, we're gonna get one last shot of you with gramma."

My grandparents are long dead, my mother died from cancer two days before that orange bastard became President of the USA, and my father died two years after my mother, drowning himself in alcohol after she was gone. I haven't got any siblings, my aunts and uncles are dead, and all my cousins hate me and don't talk to me. I'm 48, single, no children.

Single, 67, looked after my mother for many years until she died seven weeks ago. No siblings, no children, nobody else left alive and I'm unsure why I bother to stick around. Habit? The expectations of others? A desire to not disappoint the few people I know? I wish there were some positive reasons.
You have no idea what the future holds for you. The only way to find out is to be there when it happens.

At 18 I cut my wrists and waited, until I realized the person to find me would be my baby sister. I figured I'd do it later. I guess it isn't later, quite yet.
Every day we all influence people, in good and bad ways, and most of them we don't know we're doing it. Last year someone told me they'd seen me at a store, with full arms, holding the door open for a woman with a walker. He said that touched him, just a small thing. He tries to do that, now.

I'm bipolar and mostly experienced enough to know that there will be good after bad if I just wait. It doesn't make it easier but I've managed to develop coping mechanisms that work. So far, anyway.
