Being #ActuallyAutistic doesnโt make you a bad person.
It doesnโt make you โlazyโ.
It doesnโt make you โboringโ.
It makes you you. For all the good and the less good.
Love yourself.
Youโre more than OK. Youโll be more than OK.
With all good intentions, I would prefer not to have strangers telling me what I am and what I am not, and whom I should love. A little bit less encroachment would be great.
@danimo @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic lol love yourself! do it!
Whenever I love myself, people say that I shouldn't do that in public. /j
But seriously, I've never found reason to object to what Matthew is saying.
@yourautisticlife @danimo @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic I mean yeah he's just throwing positive mantras out there and people get bent out of shape
@seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic
something being a positive mantra dosnt mean one can't / shouldnt be willing to be critical about it. telling someone to love themselves as always stuck me as weird, you know nothing about me, what if im genuinly a horrible person who acts against others out of a shere sence of joy? the idea that love for the self should be unconditional is very weird
@odd_megan @yourautisticlife @danimo @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic "love yourself unless you're a sociopath!" then
actually, "unless you're a sociopath" is a standard unsaid element of anything I personally post around here
I posted yesterday that you are beautiful. I believe that
love yourself. if you're a horrible person, be better by loving yrself
if you dont like positive vibes coming your way, thats a good time to block an account.
and then ask yourself if you're a sociopath
@seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic
it makes no sence to belive that i am beutiful, you have never met or seen me (so far as i am aware)
loving myself wouldnt make me a better person, because i would be loving my horribleness.
Love and nurture the goodness withing yourself is a much more reasonable sentiment.
@odd_megan @yourautisticlife @danimo @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic I am beautiful when I am not at my best and I am lovable when I fuck up
& so are you
period
I hear what you're saying. but just as we can love our goodness, we can also love the Us that experiences challenges or screws up, in exactly the same way. it doesnt mean we love our failures. it simply means we love ourselves even when we fail, even when we cause harm
if we dont have unconditional love for ourself, who will?
@seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @theautisticcoach @actuallyautistic
dont assert things about me without knowlage, it comes across as utterly empty at best.
no one has to have unconditional love for me :D no one needs to have love for me at all :D i dont derive my purpose from that, folks feelings are their own busness. i just do what i think is best.
@odd_megan @seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @actuallyautistic i thought youโre against people being invasive? How is a public statement towards no one in particular invasive yet a directed and targeted aggression isnโt invasive? I fail to see your logic . You defend attacks on me and others yet then tell others not to assert things without knowledge. You went on to assume my intent and even when I made it clear you continued. Oh well.
@theautisticcoach @seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @actuallyautistic
i didnt assume your intent, i merely applied what i felt was a reasonable interpretation of what you wrote given certain assumptions about conventional grammar and word use.
A statement, when written down such as "you possess charecteristic x" can be reasonable assumed to be directed at the reader, every reader, unless it is delivered with qualifying statements.
And today's word is:
@theautisticcoach @seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @actuallyautistic
@ScottSoCal @theautisticcoach @seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @actuallyautistic
just because you have seen someone disagree with others, does not render them a contrarian. I object to a spesific set of behaviours (empty statements about others made without evidence and simmilar sentiments such as a blanket "love yourself" which seem to be made without thought to any individual factors or nuance), disagreeing with some things is very normal, not inherently contrarian
And yet here we are, many exchanges in on something that could have simply been passed over or ignored, because you disagreed with it. Instead you launch a flurry of responses, for some reason I can't even begin to guess at.
@theautisticcoach @seanwithwords @yourautisticlife @danimo @actuallyautistic
@ScottSoCal
are we just sharing random definitions with eachother now?
ironically, your continued sharing of the definition of contrarian appears to be an example of a contrarian tendancy :D
