When do you stop the microwave, toaster oven, alarm clock, etc. to prevent that awful sound?

@JeremyMallin @actuallyautistic Last second, usually. Half a beep isn't the worst thing in the world. It does depend on what I'm doing though - warming something up that takes 20 seconds, I'll hit the 30 second button and stop accordingly.
@roknrol @actuallyautistic all my appliances perform the entire series of beeps or buzzes even if I tried to stop it just after it started. 😭
@JeremyMallin @actuallyautistic Oh that's absolutely unacceptable.
Can confirm: my LG dryer plays a happy little tune when I start it, and it's practically giddy when the clothes are dry and it stops.
🤣

Inanimate objects do so much for us, and so little consideration!
@Zumbador @ScottSoCal @woozle @roknrol @JeremyMallin @actuallyautistic
It think it is natural to care for things.
For me, it makes way more sense to have an empathic relationship to a device that lives in my home than... to many people outside that home.
Allistic people are just bad with empathy and then try to normalize that behavior.
@wakame
Agreed!

All the things I care about have names.
@ScottSoCal @woozle @roknrol @JeremyMallin @actuallyautistic
Sorry off topic but Scott's comment reminds me of how I feel about my kettle. It sounds so upset and anxious when it whistles, I always feel compelled to reassure and comfort it 😅.
(and apparently feeling an excess of empathy for inanimate objects is an autistic trait so not totally off topic)
