If I see people out of context (a co-worker at a grocery store) it's jarring, and I freeze up for a second. I'm supposed to know them, but this isn't right...

I hate meeting people I know I "know" but can't remember how I know them because it can range from "I worked with them for years and they liked me and it's awkward I don't remember them" to "I slept with their girlfriend and they hate me and it's awkward I don't remember them".
j/k 😉
@axnxcamr @ScottSoCal @actuallyautistic @neurodivergence But it's absolutely true! It used to drive my ex-bf nuts when we were out and about and I'd be lost for how I knew someone.
Had I hit on them in a bar once upon a time, had I met them at a friend's party, or did I just work with them? He assumed I just thought they were cute and it was my excuse to stare at them.
Like I have the composure to come up with elaborate ruses like that. He should have known by then I would have just blurted that out.
I was joking about the girlfriend part, but I did go out a lot when I was younger and there is always a chance that I met the other person during one of those nights that "didn't go as planned", shall we say.

Yes, this! I ran into a former co-worker once in the grocery store. His was literally the cube next to mine for years, and I could not for the life of me remember his name or how I knew him. Mortifying. I just froze up completely.
