i saved a blender 2.78c file, updated to blender 2.79, opened the file, lo and behold a whole object was missing because of some bullshit error that flashed by too quickly to know what it was and now i have to start all over again anyway

i love open source

@squirrel
Wait... wouldn't you be missing a bit more than that if you were using Maya? (Ok, 3ds Max probably not. But still...)

@Terxbor i've never used maya or 3dsmax so this is lost on me sorry

@squirrel
I ended up using both, about five years ago. Basically, Maya is buggy buggy shit yet somehow still gets used by almost the entire film industry. 3ds Max, is somehow pretty reliable and more popular among the game industry. Both are made by the same company, having bought one or the other along the way.
(Oh, yeah, if anyone tells you they want to go to The Art Institutes, warn them off HARD. That school chain is horrible. I know. I was bullied out of there.)

@squirrel It's ok. I'll probably vent more than that somewhere along the way. Hopefully it gets CWs when I do.
