Also i really want to like cardgames/boardgames/pen&paper, but i'm so frustrated by complex rule systems i can't wrap my mind around and how other people can just dive into them and have fun while it sucks all the spoons out of me.

@remmy Have you looked at extremely rules-light games like Fiasco and to a lesser extent Fate Accelerated?

Oh yeah, i actually have played a few P&Ps with less/more rules.
The problem i have with with P&Ps are actually opposite to card/boardgames. Because when a P&P is light on rules it's heavy on making lots of stuff up on the go, at which i'm also not really good at ^^'.
(I'm also not a good DM because of this)
Well it kind of works, but it is also as draining as trying to come up with strategies and shit in complex-ruled games i were just taught the rules of.

... I feel like there should be games out there for you, but I don't really know any...
I myself am TERRIBLE at coming up with strategies, or even thinking ahead for more than a turn or two 😅
So I mostly stick to RPGs where I just play what my gut tells me (which comes easy to me, I guess? 🤷).

Yeah, i think heavily ruled P&Ps or a really good DM or just a strongly defined setting can make it work for me in that regard. Because these rules are more like instructions, that can be looked up and followed at any time. I do like some P&Ps and if i only have to focus on one character and its actions i'm usually fine. Shaping the whole world around that character at the same time i can't do well.
Yeah, same, strategy games are just not my cup o' coffee.
