I recently read a post somewhere that said "Condoms are only 95% effective, that means if you have sex 20 times you WILL get someone pregnant."
That doesn't sound right...
And it wasn't! The "95% effective" is measured over a YEAR, not for every single time one has sex!
Out of 100 couples who use condoms ALL THE TIME, 5 became pregnant OVER THE COURSE OF A YEAR!
That's still not great, but far from the "might as well not use condoms" the original post implied.

@Tobi even if they were that ineffective, I'd rather use condoms to protect from STDs anyway. Does it say whether that is a problem as well?

@ser8phin I guess it's less obvious, harder to measure, and definitely unethical to do in experiments, so there are no hard numbers?
