seattle, real talk (-)
came here bc ok it's "progressive" and people were probs more "woke". the reality of seattle is encapsulated by me weeping quietly at my desk as i'm struggling to get anything productive done while a group of white lesbians in front of me have Discourse and swap tales of visiting Bali and other vacations
this is my seattle experience in a nutshell. there are two seattles - one for poc and the neurodiverse and others that don't Fit In. another for white people that Fit In

i really hate this city
i have no support network here. no one gives. a. shit. i'm afraid of interacting with local white people bc holy shit even those that you wouldn't think would kick your ass seem to want to flex at every opportunity.
i had to out myself at my current fucking job bc a gay black guy targetting me for total annihalation and only stopped bc "oh she's trans". what the fuck is wrong with this fucking city and the people here?

the thing that people care about here is Liberal Clout and money. holy shit money is so important. it's the only thing people talk about and it's the only thing people respect. this city is some fucked up capitalist hell hole
people walk away from me in the middle of conversations. people look down on any display of emotion. people sit around and BRAG about helping poc instead of you know Actually Listening to poc.
don't give me fucking sympathy. fix this fucking city.

people say "go to meetups" and "go to this support group" all of which are filled with mostly white people that even if they aren't rich have no fucking conception of the power they have just having a support network and friends
let's talk about friends. no one says two words to me in this city except when i'm working for them or otherwise benefiting them. no one cares how i feel. no one jokes with me. no one gives a shit.
any. other. fucking. city. isn't like this

yes other places have issues. don't tell me about that. don't lecture me pls. i'm literally from the south where i've lived in some shitholes ok? i've driven by burning crosses. i've had people get in fights Because They Wanted to Kill Me. Ok? i get that
the issue i have with seattle is that it plays itself up as some great bastion of Progressivism but it isn't. it's a Capitalist Liberal fraud for people with the $$$ to live in it. it's an echo chamber for the Elite.

My knee jerk anti capitalist reaction is to just blame Amazon and Starbucks but the unfortunate reality is that Seattle let corporations like them thrive in the first place, so it clearly runs deeper than that. If Amazon actually left there wouldn't be anything stopping another predatory startup from taking its place. :/

You can really see it in how much talk we have about helping homeless people e.g. and nothing happens year after year. Or rent control. Or even just the availability of low income housing.
I have no doubt there are good and honest people here but the overall attitude isn't a good look.
