In 1972, Mr. Pibb wrote a book and went on tour giving presentations with proof that Dr. Pepper forged his doctorate degree. In 1980, he reformulated the alleged proof and watered down the sensationalism of his accusations, then faded from the public spotlight while Dr. Pepper continued to enjoy fame.

Last year, Mr. Pibb came back with new accusations, and although they do cast more doubt today on Dr. Pepper's degree than before, Mr. Pibb seems an overly caffeinated version of his former self.
