Hello! My name is Ren (he/him/his or they/them/their), and I study pure math and music composition. I also enjoy mountain biking, tabletop RPGs and reading/watching sci-fi. Ethical vegetarian. Possibly non-orientable.

Thank you for this wonderful and positive space :)

@Ren_Ardana Hi and welcome! What games do you like ? do you have a favorite moment from a trpg session ? What's your favorite scifi media and why is it the Ancillary trilogy? what foods do you like ?

@atinyfairy

Hi! I’ve only played DnD 5e and bunnies & burrows (1976 ed., a really cool game based on watership down). I don’t really have a favorite moment yet. My favorite sci-fi work is probably Akira or The Diamond Age. I actually have super generic food taste, bean burgers and tempeh burritos = life :) How about you? PS I’m reading Ancillary Justice right now, it’s great.

@Ren_Ardana I tend to like really weird games, both on the crunchier end of the spectrum (Exalted, Weapons of the Gods) and the simpler end (Fiasco, Monsterhearts)! In general I like systems that want to have a voice in how you play them and what kinds of stories you make, and which enforce their genre conceits in the rules. If it's a generic system, I want it simple and out of the way (like Fate Accelerated). I'm not a huge fan of D&D, but I do like 4E and Pathfinder's settings and 5E's rules.

@Ren_Ardana I've still never read Akira! The movie is absolutely beautiful, of course, but you can tell they had to rush the story and leave a lot out. Diamond Age is a great novel!! I like Hitchhiker's Guide, Feed, Jennifer Government, the Culture series, and I have a soft spot for older Star Wars EU stuff too even if most of it was silly, hehe
Black bean burgers are great! and burritos are definitely a staple for me, we have a local place that uses all locally-grown ingredients that's rly nice

@Ren_Ardana but at heart I'm a huuuuge fan of falafel, curry, and noodle dishes of all kinds! oh, and I cook a pretty good vegan lasagna ❤️

@Ren_Ardana I actually haven't really found a vegan cheese I like? I guess Teese is worlds better than Daiya but overall I just am not a fan
I use a spicy tomato sauce, spinach, zucchini, and carrots, tofu mixed by hand with a bunch of herbs and spices, nutritional yeast
if I'm serving meat eaters I usually add soy crumbles cooked with garlic and onion and spices but it's good without them, too
