There is a Google doc that lists gynaecologists who will perform tubal ligation (tie tubes) without asking if you have kids/your partners permission/are married etc. as long as you're old enough to consent to surgery.
It's sorted by alphabetical order by state.
If your city isn't listed, keep checking because it's constantly being updated.
So far there are entries for USA, Canada, and Australia. Europe will hopefully soon be added.

Thanks to efforts by volunteers Nosamu and bai0, the Internet Archive's flash emulation just jumped generations ahead.
Mute/Unmute works. The screen resizes based on the actual animation's information. And for a certain group who will flip their lid:
We can do multi-swf flash now!
A pile of previously "broken" flashes will join the collection this week.
It’s amazing to think how much digitization has made it less likely content will last beyond a generation. Writing on stone tablets last hundreds to thousands of years. An Atari cartridge or Betamax tape is almost impossible to consume today if you aren’t a collector of classic electronics.
I used to think my kids and grandkids would read my blog posts and tweets. Now I doubt Medium or Twitter will still be around in ten years.
re: New Star Wars Ahsoka trailer and Rebels spoilers
@megmac it was a really good trailer and I'm suuper excited to see the continuation of their stories yeah ! Rebels is the best star wars yet imo so I'm very excited for its spiritual successor
re: New Star Wars Ahsoka trailer and Rebels spoilers
@megmac yeah, pretty sure she's not force sensitive? I mean she did learn how to use a lightsaber, and given Ahsoka's tenuous connection to the Jedi, it might make sense for her to pass on Jedi skills to non-force users in her reinvention of what those skills can be useful for. I imagine the Jedi hoarded a lot of knowledge that wasn't necessarily force-based and a post-Jedi person like Ahsoka might not have qualms about sharing it
@megmac and even better if we have mixed solar/nuclear. instead of turning off the nuke plants during the day we could run then continuously and dedicate the "extra" energy to carbon capture. of course that assumes we actually decide to actually build the clean energy nuclear plants we've had for half a century that already solve the problem…
@megmac I think it's an interesting argument for the form that excess solar energy is stored in. like, the $100k to built a capture plant that produces $150k of natural gas looks great but it ignores the $1m solar array that powers it which already produces $150k of electricity. But with government incentives to capture carbon instead of/in addition to using battery storage or pumped water storage or whatever, it's very appealing.
@megmac I really enjoyed An Unkindness of Ghosts, which is about the residents of a generation ship that's been underway for hundreds and hundreds of years, and the society they've formed as the ship is slowly falling apart
@megmac I dunno there's a lot of potential for things that could improve tumblr and that post does touch on some of it. but yeah the less control they give the user on what they see the less I'm into the idea
@megmac I notice section 3 is basically stuff Cohost has figured out and does fairly well, so I'm excited to see that on a more mature platform. one cool thing tumblr has allowed for a while is following tags, but it's sometimes hard to know what tags to follow since there's no metric of how often a particular tag gets used. more guidance on tagging would be nice. Right now there's an experiment to optionally add posts from tags you're following to your regular dash which seems less useful
re: Sightly more spoilery thoughts about Across The Spiderverse
@megmac it was so good!
And regardless of the intent, if they're going to put a trans flag in a teenager's bedroom with "PROTECT TRANS KIDS" written on it, that character is trans now, no takebacks
RE: Evernote firing all employees. Potential company shutdown/selloff.
You can download & export your entire evernote collection using evernote-backup: https://github.com/vzhd1701/evernote-backup
Can't do it in the app anymore without a $paid$ plan.
I saw a post here (that I can't find) that kinda changed my life.
It said the best first step to changing the world into a better place is to just stop making fun of people. Ever. For anything. Including in your own thoughts that you may never speak aloud.
I try very hard to do this! it's such a stabler and nicer-feeling foundation to my thoughts and my life. It sheds a mental weight/burden I couldn't see before.
Such a great distilled bit of advice for a big concept!
@Xkeeper good morning!
"Piracy can't be stealing if paying for it isn't owning"
This is increasingly how it feels, when streaming shows disappear for tax reasons and things you "own" digitally become inaccessible.
Thank you @Illuminatus for this quote.
So a brand new fancy decompiler for Sierra games just dropped

@Xkeeper good morning!
@megmac there's a local chinese place I like and they always put the bubble tea in the bag with the hot food and by the time we get it the food is warmish and the bubble tea's ice has all melted x.x
