Thank you to all who have helped and shared. Unfortunately, the situation is no less dire: my friend has no spending money and continues to be hounded by the collectors. Once on this one forum there was a thread about unusual/paranormal things that seemed to happen around you and we learned that people who consistently can do this often also have an uncanny sense of what time it is without using a clock or watch, have precognitive dreams, sometimes pick up the phone before it rings, stuff like that. It was very common to have all of these things packaged together, for some reason.
