i just realized US keyboards don't have an alt grave aka ISO LEVEL 3 SHIFT

how do you even write basic letters like þ or € or µ or … do you just use compose for that?

@anna I think most Americans just use the Windows character map, though, personally, I use the US International keyboard (which adds level 3 shift) to get those sorts of symbols.
