Enbies: Sadly, we don't have enough data to build a statistical model yet, but we all know they are going have a better one than men.
If I was a youtuber I'd end every video with a setup where you think I'm about to talk about one of the 5 companies that sponsors youtube videos but instead it's an alternative that's just as good but free
Like I start talking about privacy online and you think "oh it's NordVPN" but I'm talking about Tor. Or I talk about learning new skills but instead of Brilliant or CuriosityStream or SkillShare it's your local public library, or makerspace, or arXiv/libgen/archive.org/etc
I talk about struggling to remember different passwords but when you think I'm gonna say "try dashlane!" I just go "use your browser's built-in password manager. did you seriously forget about that? really? every single browser offers to remember your passwords for you, why are you paying money for this shit"
I have a hard time explaining this to people. Even my therapist

Your idealistic refusal to partake in electoral politics mean NOTHING when people are dying in the streets.

Obviously, this isn't targeted at anyone who wouldn't be able to vote. If you wouldn't be able to take off work (or doing so would mean the difference between affording necessities and not affording necessities), or if your state prohibits you from voting or whatnot, this isn't aimed at you. This is aimed at those who *can* vote, but *refuse*.

To refuse to vote for any democrat who isn't as far left as Sanders (say, Biden), is to passively condone a large amount of the deaths that will occur should Trump win reelection with a republican majority in both houses. Yes, work outside the fucking system, but if you can't be assed to take that one day to vote (assuming you'll be able to do so), your indifference to electoral politics is a part of the cause for many of the deaths that will result. Harm reduction, people. Use it.

proposal: constructions such as "45 out of 10" or "-8 out of 10" do not merely represent hyperbole, but a reimagining of the scale from 0 to 10 as the scale of normalcy instead of the scale of possibility
instead of asking, "how cool is this compared to the coolest theoretically possible thing?", such phrasings ask, "how cool is this compared to what one would expect if something was supposed to be cool?" and express how far beyond that threshold the thing goes
Also by this logic: if someone gets a full-ride scholarship for, say, comp sci, then why are they not prohibited from creating a profitable startup and taking VC money?
