needles, fae, historical ableism
yet another piece of evidence to suggest the fae are an old description of neurodiverse folks:
you know the iron allergy thing? yeah well turns out there's a specific chemical where a deficiency of it is associated with being abnormally sensitive to needles—specifically the physical sensation (and probably not just needles; that's just what got tested)
and of the groups of people tested, autistic folx were by far the most likely to produce an antibody for it
I'm suddenly reminded of the guy on Mastodon who, without an introduction or anything, offered me a kiln... I said mate I'm not sure if I have any use for a kiln he said it's for free but you need to get it yourself because I don't have a car I said DUDE I DON'T EVEN LIVE IN THE UK so he was like DO YOU WANT THE KILN OR NOT
a bug, not a feature.
