also while i'm at it with the constructive criticism,
can we please stop misrepresenting the historical witch-hunts as being a literal targeted oppression of literal witches?
the "witch cult" hypothesis has been thoroughly debunked and the "9 million" number is a fabrication invented by ahistorical neopagans
the witch hunts were a way of controlling women during the Primitive Accumulation of Capital (suggested reading: Silvia Federici's The Caliban and the Witch).
anarchist witchcraft, a short criticism
there seems to be an alarming trend of anarchist witchcraft that does not actually follow through with material praxis alongside their spellwork;
this is dangerous. it encourages inaction and diverts energy away from organizing. thoughts and prayers do nothing on their own.
the role of the witch historically has been not just a spiritual role, but a role of community service & resources. they didn't just "cast spells" or "hex people". they took actual concrete actions to improve the lives of those around them in a measurable way.
too much of online witch "culture" is centered around petty-bourgoise "small business-owner" capitalist nonsense, dangerous crypto-antivaxer "homeopaths", and fake "feminists" who venerate rather than dismantle the gender binary & "traditional" womanhood
i want queer communist anti-imperialist witchcraft. i want a blending of witchcraft with dialectical & historical materialism into a witch's "liberation theology" that emphasizes a scientific approach to herbal & traditional medicine, & encourages combining ritual, magic & praxis
"Happy Thanksgiving! In a totally non-traditional, harvest festival way with no referencing the false narrative of pilgrims and Indians sharing a meal that hides the genocidal truth. [turkey emoji]"
no idea how to feel abt this message we just saw. i mean, at least they're acknowledging the history?? but it's such a bizarre way to do that. we're very confused.

remember when the fbi made up hair analysis?
“The Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in an elite FBI forensic unit gave flawed testimony in almost all trials in which they offered evidence against criminal defendants over more than a two-decade period before 2000.”
a bug, not a feature.
