A message from Leonard Peltier, an indigenous activist who was framed for murder in 1975 and jailed; his next scheduled parole hearing will be in July 2024, when Peltier will be 79:

If you are warm and have a comfortable shelter to live in, please give to those who are cold and homeless, if you see someone hurting and in need of a kind word or two, be that person who steps forward and lends a hand. And especially, when you see injustice anywhere, please be brave enough to speak up to confront it. I want to thank all who are kind enough to remember me and my family in your thoughts and prayers. the witch hunts were a way of controlling women during the Primitive Accumulation of Capital (suggested reading: Silvia Federici's The Caliban and the Witch).

there seems to be an alarming trend of anarchist witchcraft that does not actually follow through with material praxis alongside their spellwork;

this is dangerous. it encourages inaction and diverts energy away from organizing. thoughts and prayers do nothing on their own.

the role of the witch historically has been not just a spiritual role, but a role of community service & resources. they didn't just "cast spells" or "hex people". they took actual concrete actions to improve the lives of those around them in a measurable way.
