do .wav files normally sound weird on an awe32?

@azushark Good, I was concerned it was the amplifier or something. Okay, so it sounds limited to digital playback. You have latest drivers installed, and the device is configured in Windows sound options to output at 44khz?
@Saxxon i have yet to grab the latest drivers for it (just working with default drivers for win98 rn)
@Saxxon also this only seems to affect .wav files, .mp3 is unaffected?
@azushark Oh, that is *really weird*. Does trying a different player do anything?

@azushark Super weird! I'm really glad you found the problem. I got super concerned maybe it was the card 
@azushark Yeah, I listened to the clip you linked and totally agree. Hmmmm, is FM music also muffled? Or just samples?
