gonna talk about it on this account instead actually-
so i have two really old tablets from 2012, a nexus 7 and kindle fire
goal: play Colorful Stage on them
Nexus 7:
• charged overnight, it starts up
• found a sufficiently high version android rom that will run on it
• fastboot
keeps returning mysterious errors, and googling them suggests i need to use a different usb cable. will keep an eye out for cables around the house as i clean, try them all later
Kindle Fire:
• it's charging! yay
so yeah, a bit of a roadblock, but it's coming along!!
i dont have much hope that the game will run well on either of them, but i should be able to at least get it running. thats my marker of success.

this project is dead i think
• im specifically seeking out roms of lineageOS that are android 8.1, since the game supposedly supports that
• however, the game does not show up in the play store
• so why not get it another way? well, no matter how i source the apk, i still need Google Play Services working properly to install + play it...
• ...which i do not. the play store will run *once*, then never again, instead giving an endless stream of notifications demanding i update Google Play Services, which i cannot do because i dont have Play Store working
• i cant install an update for that manually, either. i can find the apk but it doesnt seem to actually function. i will try again in the morning but im not hopeful
• so yeah Nexus 7 aint happening
• Kindle Fire cant get past 6.1 so thats fucked too
• i have a Galaxy S5 Active i could try but theres no fucking point, the goal was specifically for a tablet
:(
im pretty upset about this honestly. the three devices in question are all only 11-13 years old. theres no reason i should be unable to install a recent OS on them. this is either needless waste, or stuff i hold on to in hope of finding a use case and never do and then it goes spicy pillow.
im officially soliciting suggestions on what to do with them.
@arborcodes you could try doing a linux install and using waydroid or anbox
