@feld mature HBM is 6.5-7% lactose per Su Yeong, Yong Yi. “Components of human breast milk: from macronutrient to microbiome and microRNA.” CEP doi:10.3345/cep.2020.00059 while this is 6% fructose. I also hate america, its lack of healthly food options and recreational spaces. Along with Gerber for lots of reasons. But fear of sugar and fat phobia don't help. Simple carbohydrates from natural sources are good for you.

@budsofstone lactose is 5-6x less sweet than sugar and is digested more slowly. Our bodies react differently to different types of sugar. This is an extremely important detail that should not be overlooked

@feld true, the sugar scale is based on human perception tho. % solutions tasted based on refrence to sucrose, perception of sweetness is highly variable and has little to do with nutrition. I don't know what you could mean by digested more slowly, but lactose(46 to 65) and fructose(19 to 27) have a similar glycemic index [1](doi:10.1017/S0007114500001094) with fructose being lower. Both are 4kcal/g. Im not saying lactose and fructose are the same, the idea that fruitsugar is bad less than great
