If you know anyone who smokes, please talk to them about throwing away their butts properly.
I just picked up 27 filtered butts at a mixed-use wetlands park where office workers take breaks. I really believe most smokers who drop butts don’t realize they’re dropping a wad of microplastics *with all the toxins they didn’t want in their bodies* directly into the food chain. Talking to friends about it non-aggressively might change their behavior in this small, crucial way.🤷🏻♀️
@budsofstone @faerye The custom of just tossing them started back when the butt was just paper and tobacco. You'd think people would have figured out the difference by now.
